Introduction to Brioche Knitting
Intermediate Level - Instructor: Stephanie Carrico
Class Description
Brioche stitch is a wonderfully adaptable knitting technique resulting in a super cushy fabric, making wonderfully wearable garments and super warm hats. Once you’re comfortable working the stitch repeats, it can be quite meditative. Worked in two colors, it makes for exciting color play options. In this class we will explore basic two color Brioche worked both flat and in the round. Instructions will be provided for several options for appropriate cast ons and cast offs. Once the basic stitch is mastered a whole world of beautifully complex stitch patterns opens up, the simpler of these will be discussed as possible next steps. **Required Materials: Students should bring two balls of high contrast worsted weight wool (one obviously light, the other dark), a size 6-8 non slippery circular needle (preferably wood, 16-24” in length) and a second needle (set) 1-2 sizes larger (straight or circular),Stitch marker, yarn needle.**
